Melissa Crisp is a student in JoAnn Lyon's People with Disabilities class. The following is a link to her article written in New Mobility Magazine about her journey to discover her love for practicing yoga.
"As someone with a low level spinal cord injury resulting in paraplegia, I appreciate the knowledge and sensitivity of my teachers at PYS. Also, I'm grateful for their trust to allow me to be able to get up into a head stand independently, where as I need their assistance in most any other yoga pose. The interdependence between teacher, aid and student is one to be recognized and emulated."
"The explanation of what we were going to do before doing it, as well as the demonstration followed by the instruction given. The repetition of the different position helped to reinforce the positions so that I was able to practice at home."
