FRIDAYS, APRIL 3 - MAY 22, 2:00-3:30 PM
This series led by yoga therapist, Cheryl Fenner Brown, will focus on simple yoga techniques that may reduce the severity of
cancer treatment side effects in the months and years after treatment.
No prior yoga experience is necessary.
Treatment group participants attend an 8 week yoga session. The class consists of gentle movement, breathing mudras (hand gestures), and yoga nidra (guided meditation). Daily reporting on functional, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being is also required. A DVD of the yoga instruction and handouts will be provided for home use. Control group participants will be assigned to report weekly on functional, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being factors and invited to attend the yoga session on Friday, May 29 from 2:00-3:30 pm. Participants should be in the maintenance phase of cancer treatment (currently not receiving radiation or intravenous chemotherapy treatments.)
If you are interested in participating, please contact Cheryl Fenner Brown at 510-290-2641 or snd an emailto set up an intake interview beginning in March. All interviews and yoga sessions will be held at Cancer Support Community in Walnut Creek, CA.
